I like wire top plastic based cages for the reasons stated.

I like the duna maxi tank style cage for the deeep substrate and lack of mess but it does get a bit smelly.

Diy would be best because you can design your own. I would have a deep base, wonderful large front and roof doors and lots of wood and interesting hides and platforms.
