It's all down to what your own hamsters are used to. Youngsters are brought into the main room from 3 weeks old to start getting more used to busy household noises. It means they are better able to cope with life in a family home as well as showing. At a show you have the public looking at show pens, they are handled by the judge (a stranger) and have to sit on a judging grid so it's important they get to know early on that this is all fine
For a pet robo that doesn't do this type of thing of course, they likely won't encounter this sort of scenario although it does make them much more manageable if they ever need to see a vet.
