They spin really well and are quite light so easy for them to run in. I have the 12" one for our Syrian - you can get bar attachments for them (separately). Ours is attached to the bars and it's really sturdy - two big metal square plates with a screw through the middle so it doesn't bend the bars. If it doesn't come assembled, you need to make sure the front and back pieces are well pressed on and there is no gap either side of the joining strip.
