Default Re: Did my hamster die suffering?

He was such a handsome little buddy I am sorry for your loss. He clearly had one or two paws on the other side so I think there was very little suffering because he wasn't really all here. His body was but his mind was getting ready to pass over and perhaps even taking little sojourns over to get used to it. Nature had called his time so it wouldn't do for him to be so comfortable he did not want to leave, that is Nature's way she is really very unpleasant but that is how she is. Nature also has a way of collapsing several functions at once in an ageing life so that the death can be quicker that way- so yea he could go down hill very fast and you can call it old age but it is really a collection of ailments. I think you did the right things by not interfering too much but being comforting and helpful. Extraordinary measures, theoretically possible, would have only prolonged and aggravated any suffering he was feeling. So be at peace with yourself. Your little friend has moved on and you will miss him but it is a good life well lived and no one can ask for more. Xx
