Default Re: Companion Care vets

Last time I took a hamster to our "regular" vet (ie cat & dog type vet) it cost about £30 consultation fee & that was about 7 years ago. More recently I discovered we have an exotics vet locally so have registered the hams with them & when I asked what the consultation fee would be they said about £50. Which is a lot of money but I figure they are more likely to know what's going on & get it sorted quicker than our regular vets (who are execellent with the cats, by the way). Particularly as one of mine is tiny robo who doesn't like being handled! Past vet trips with hamsters over the years, of which thankfully there haven't been many, have resulted, in some cases in, a vet who isn't much better sat handling the hamsters than me & the diagnosis being a bit vague. I don't know if we're more expensive being down south.
