Are Chinese diabetic prone? Even so, I would have thought even for a diabetic prone hamster, it's still everything in moderation. He could maybe just have sweeter veg (peas and carrots, etc.) on a rare occasion. Like once a month or so, in very small quantities. Neither are as sweet as fruit.
Then again, I've never owned a diabetic prone hamster and I wouldn't like you to do this if other, more experienced people didn't think it was a good idea.
