[Hanhanboban]

Hey everyone (:

I posted a thread earlier explaining all about the new Robo dwarf I adopted yesterday called Snowy.

She's a beautiful little hammy, around 13/14 weeks old and has been in adoption since late February. She was getting picked on by her cage mates so the previous owners gave her up, she had cuts and wounds on her belly but they have cleared up and she's had a full vets check.

Everything is good but she's very shy, we left her in the box that we took her home in while we did up her cage. She has a wheel, chewing logs, hanging treats, food bowl water and toys. We made the wood shavings nice and thick and have her lots of bedding. We put her in without touching her and she made her way out and started kicking things around, then she all of a sudden jumped out of her cage so my boyfriend grabbed her in a panic and put her back in.

We then took her upstairs into the empty room so he could settle in with peace and quiet. I went to check on her every now and then and she was getting on just fine but as soon as she see's you she runs and hides into her nest, I had to put my hand in the cage to give her dinner and she went crazy running around.

I understand she's probably very scared and she's ben in adoption for a long time and I'm not sure if they handle them at Pets at Home adoption centre. I was wondering if anyone had experience with adopted hamsters or if anyone has any good advice for me? I want her to be happy and not scared, I also want her to be tame like my little boy Gizmo, he loves saying hello and runs right out of his nest when he can hear me coming. I already have my little girl Gimli who is very shy and untame, I'm still trying to work on her too.

I get upset because I feel like they're scared of me and not 100% happy when they're skittish and untame. I love them all dearly and have no favourites I just wish Gimli would trust me and I'm hoping Snowy can learn to.
