Default *Replying to old threads*

Can members please take a minute to look at the date of threads they are posting on.

The first post of a thread will show the date on the top left side in the following format:

Month/Day/Year

This might read slightly different for UK users used to seeing Day/Month/Year formats

A quick look at the last post will show if the thread is thread is active.

I have deleted a number of threads being replied to today from years ago. Threads such as members asking for medical help for hammies that will be long gone and old memorials.

Posting on old threads, such as memorials, can be upsetting for the OP or simply be of no help to the OP anymore. We have a large number of members, some who only join for a single question and do not return after posting so the advice given after a period of time is unlikely to be read.

Posting on ongoing topic threads is fine but can members use their own judgement as to whether there is a more up to date discussion being used more frequently.

Threads are left on boards to act as a reference to members who can use the search function. This helps keep our boards running smoothly and members should always search for their topic before posting a new thread.

If the forum search does not produce results, I find typing your question into a search engine followed by "hamster central" helps.

Eg. "Can hamsters eat melon hamster central"

Thank you

The Mod Team
