In fact if we look at all of the RSPCA's recommendations many if not most of us are at risk of being accused of cruelty to our hamsters:
  • Stainless steel bars or mesh sides preferable to solid sides and must have a raised lid
  • No wooden cages
  • An area of i.e. sand or peat which is deep enough for the hamster to burrow
  • Bedding material deep enough to allow the hamster to dig
  • A shelter which is large enough for the hamster to comfortably move around, set up a larder and which is dark inside. Best is one which has an angled tube entrance to prevent light entering.

And so it goes on. Well, my Savic Hamster Heaven Metro is totally out. I'm looking at cages right now. Can't do a tank
