I loved "Hammy House of Horror" as a child. I had the audiobook version read by Sandi Toksvig. It's basically a funny version of dracula but he's a rat called "Count Ratular". Various rodents star but the main character is a hamster called Hamish. And yes that was where my poor little guy got his name lol
