It is hard owning hamsters as they do burrow so deeply into our hearts and time passes so quickly, one day a jumpy baby, the next a more placid adult and then suddenly you start to notice the vitality and vigour is no longer there. All your hamster wants to do is sleep. And it can be just as painful when they are taken from us early with illness as we have had no time to prepare ourselves, but preparation or not deep down it hurts just the same in the end. With an average lifespan of only 1000 days we have to make the most of every one of them and enjoy their company while we can. Know they wont be here forever but don't let it overrule your emotions.
