I posted a thread on here a while ago with links to an article about rodent farming. It may have been upsetting to some people as there were pictures of animals being kept in tiny cramped cages. The overall reaction was along the lines of 'oh thats horrible lets not think about it'. I was dissapointed as raising awareness of the conditions of animals bred for petshops could result in people buying from breeders instead and avoiding animals from petshops as buying them simply makes room for more and increases demand for farmed babies.
While the posted material upset me, a lot, I wasn't upset with you for posting it. I was glad it had been brought to my attention, but crushed that I saw so much detail. However, now that I am learning more about "behind the scenes" in companion animal breeding, the more am I wondering if one day I can make a difference somehow. But I think that about so many areas in animal welfare, it just makes me very, very sad.

I do appreciate people warning in the thread titles. I can read the first line while I hover over the link and then decide if it is something I should read or not. To be honest, I also avoid reading most of the threads where I think folk might have posted bad news about their pets, as I just can't take bad news and thinking about how sad people must feel.
